wildCat

Wearing a Forever 21 blouse, UO skirt, Geox flats, Michael Kors watch, gifted jewelry, Ray Ban wayfarers.

I remember the first time I saw this skirt online. I fell in love with it immediately because it reminded me of something that an eccentric grandmother would wear. It was quite expensive though, so when I finally saw it in the store for $20 I knew I had to buy it, even if I only ended up wearing it a few times. It's probably one of the most ridiculous looking skirts that I own, but I absolutely adore it.
I know that wearing blouses tied up like this is the "in" thing to do now, you can even buy them pre-tied, BUT I originally started wearing my shirts like this a few years back and did it a lot throughout the school year simply because it's easier than tucking in my shirt. It does wrinkle when you tie it, but that's what irons were made for.

Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed their week, and is ready for the days to come.

the quiet before the storm

Wearing a vintage skirt and top, Geox flats, unknown scarf and necklace, Michael Kors watch.

I took these pictures super quick because I thought that it was going to rain, but it never did, although it felt like the quiet before the storm. When the summer months hit, I have the biggest urge to pull out my loose vintage blouses. When the weather is hot and sticky loose blouses are the best thing ever.
This blouse is patterned in a sea of pale blue flowers. There's a matching maxi skirt to go with this blouse, but I think it's a little too much to wear it all together.

BTW. My new lipstick. YSL Rose Paris. It's the most amazing colour ever, and the name makes me so happy. Paris represents, well Paris, the city that I love the most (yes, you can love a city you've never been to). And the Rose part makes me think of this quote from Sabrina: "It is late at night and someone across the way is playing La Vie en Rose. It is the French way of saying 'I am looking at the world through rose-coloured glasses.' It says everything I feel."  This is one of my favourite quotes and makes me so happy, so whenever I wear this lipstick it makes me think of everything that I love.

strawberry fields forever

Wearing a UO tee, Forever 21 dress, Sperrys shoes, Aldo elephant ring, vintage bracelet, gifted rings and necklace, Michael Kors watch.

This is just a quick outfit post. This is definitely not an outfit that I think is particularly creative or anything, but this dress is really special to me. I bought it to wear on my first day of university three years ago, and it's so nice because every time I wear it I remember that day. It's so weird that it was three years ago that I started, but sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday. I've been getting pretty nostalgic thinking about how this fall will begin my last year of undergrad. It's mind boggling!!

This shirt also makes me incredibly happy because it's covered in a pattern of strawberries, and what better berry to represent summer than a strawberry?

Ps. Polka dot nails! If you want a tutorial let me know in the comments!

The Glittering Garden: Wispy Brook

Bracelet: Silver Rush 2000

This particular bracelet laden among the crevice in the rock reminds me of a quiet little brook in the woods. A few years back my friend and I used to take walks in this huge park near her house and my favourite part was to walk near the little brook overgrown with trees. There was this little pretty bridge where my friend and I would sit on and share secrets. I sometimes miss those days, but they are merely a memory now.
The different blues in the bracelet make me incredibly happy and remind me of the different hues found in the glistening water when the sunlight hits the surface.

rose-coloured world

Wearing an H&M dress, Sperry shoes, vintage belt, unknown necklaces/gold one gifted, Michael Kors watch, vintage bangles, hat from The Bay.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake/OPI nail polish in It's All Greek To Me

Blackberry Bold/Case from a booth in the mall

This is probably the simplest outfit I've yet to wear on my blog, but there are some days when layers just turn me off. This pink dress is definitely nothing special, but it reminds me of sunny days, Pretty in Pink, Audrey Hepburn, strawberry ice cream, party dresses, beautiful lipsticks, Legally Blonde, blonde hair, and Princess Diaries novels. Even though pink isn't my favourite colour, it's definitely a colour that makes me incredibly happy. I've always felt that if I only have a little bit of pink on me, my day will be brighter and better (a thought that kept me going through the long winter months).

I also wanted to review the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. These things are so INCREDIBLE! It's like a lipstick/lip balm in one. I absolutely love the two that I bought. The one I'm wearing in these photos is called Strawberry Shortcake. This particular one isn't as pigmented as some of the other ones, but it's still beautiful and really hydrating. I definitely recommend this product (and no one is paying me to say that, aha). I bought mine at Walmart because they had these incredible rollback sales, but you can get them at Target, Zellers, Shoppers Drug Mart, or any other place that sells drug store make-up products.

Have a lovely weekend!

The Glittering Garden: Mystical Mushrooms

Rings from left: Jewelexi, RingLovers, Silver Trend
Pendant: RingLovers

So this is the second post in the Glittering Garden series. The first post was my own jewelry, but now I'll begin showing certain pieces from my mother's. I chose to show these first because I absolutely loved how the jewelry looked on these mushroom statues we have around our garden. I love the middle pendant with the peachy stone, it's such a light toned piece for summer. The purple ring is one of my favourite rings in my mom's whole collection. The stone sparkles like the night sky and makes me think of faeries and magical places. I wore it during school a lot, and it always made me so happy to look down and see the ring on my finger. A great pick-me up on a long day of classes.

Stay tuned for the third post in the series.

whimsical lounging

As a fashion blogger my outfit posts usually consist of outfits that I have worn out into public, either to school, work, an event, or something random like a trip to the mall or coffee with a friend. Yet, I never post what I wear at home, something that I think hardly any bloggers do. I for one do not dress in my beloved clothing to lounge around the house reading books, doing homework, internet surfing or whatever else it is my heart may desire to do. Instead, I usually wear old t-shirts and sweatpants/leggings. But I was thinking about it the other day, and I realized how much more fun it would be to adorn myself in something beautiful while going about my daily life at home. That's when my mind reverted to old films where the leading ladies walk around their homes in silky kimono's and loose dresses whilst sipping fancy water.
Conveniently, a few days later my mom pulled out this vintage nightgown that I originally thought was a dress. That's when it hit me: vintage nightgowns as loungewear. Obviously there are some nightgowns that are better left for the bedroom, but this one is a perfect example of everyday house wear. It's light, not too sheer, loose, and looks great with a belt or ribbon around the waist.
Therefore, I spent my day lounging around outside reading literature, updating my daily planner, painting my nails, sipping strawberry water (cold water with strawberry slices), all whilst being perfectly comfortable and looking quite fashionable.

I hope you enjoy the following photos from the rather whimsical day spent in a corner of my garden.
